Joy of Giving

Dear friends,

It is a beautiful morning and as always I woke up to a treat. As I drew the curtains my eyes got the morning love from the lovely bougainvillea in different colors. Pink, variegated pink and white, yellow, golden and also small bunches of ixoras.

I was also greeted with many beautiful messages on the phone, but my heart and mind is always with nature and want to spend my mornings with them.

The mind also started working on creating a gift for a friend who has invited for lunch today. Many thoughts came like a candle, tea light dispenser, vase with plants etc. However the best I like to gift is create a pot with a plant.

So I went to the terrace garden and looked around and decide on this one.

I am sure this plant will bring enormous joy and happiness as while creating the pot, it was showered and given the instructions to spread love and happiness.

The plant above is the most common airplane plant. Chlorophytum comosum 'Reverse Variegatum'. This one has green center with white edges unlike the other spider plant.

This plant also is happy in all kind of surroundings and makes any place it's habitat. They make the washrooms also appear fresh and green.

So now it has set out to create magic in one of my friends house.

Good bye my love and do good is the message I give to this one.

With magical love

Gift a Plant and Spread Love

Hi friends,

I think I would get hooked to writing here everyday my experiences with the trees and plants  and flowers everywhere.
As I write this I feel indebted to the person who has encouraged and actually pushed me to create the blogs for all the different and varied interests that I have. The difficulty is people write about their interests in which they have deep passion. I am passionate deeply about every interest that I have.

Anyway let me start with my connection with plants. I was very young and I remember us keeping the water plant in the house in a tub. The way it would grow, so green, so healthy. Today I know it is called Water Hyacinth Green Curled Leaves. I loved the plant. I must be around 4 years then.
My next best memory is of me visiting Pune when my neighbors shifted to Pune. They had a little cottage near Shivaji Nagar and we would go cycling in the morning to a hill with a garden. The favorite memory is of the white flowers which I would gather and the dragonflies. So many dragonflies. I must be 6 or 7 years
Then came age 10 and I went to a school which had a garden and a ground. It has bushes and shrubs and trees. I loved it all. the most favorite was the shoe flowers and I was fascinated with the sticky end of the stamen which I would try and stick to my palm.
The next age was 17 when my dream came true. We now had a row house with a garden in front and a kitchen garden behind. I would collect money and bring seeds and it was so fortunate that my mother was also very fond of plants and nature and we both got to digging the garden with some help and sowing plants and fruits and vegetables.
Lady Finger, Mint, Aarum, Papya, Bananas, Fenugreek, Balsams, Periwinkle, roses, marigold, Zinnea, The Arizona yellow bell tree grew so big that the little money plant climbed on it and became huge monsteria plant. The attempt at growing Pinapple invited a snake. The attempt to grow a Jamun tree, Syzgium cumini was not supported by neighbors and they said, the roots are too wide and they will uprood the house as it was not a big garden.

So many lovely memories. Shall be back with you to share more on my adventures with plants.
