Hi friends,
I think I would get hooked to writing here everyday my experiences with the trees and plants and flowers everywhere.
I think I would get hooked to writing here everyday my experiences with the trees and plants and flowers everywhere.
As I write this I feel indebted to the person who has encouraged and actually pushed me to create the blogs for all the different and varied interests that I have. The difficulty is people write about their interests in which they have deep passion. I am passionate deeply about every interest that I have.
Anyway let me start with my connection with plants. I was very young and I remember us keeping the water plant in the house in a tub. The way it would grow, so green, so healthy. Today I know it is called Water Hyacinth Green Curled Leaves. I loved the plant. I must be around 4 years then.
My next best memory is of me visiting Pune when my neighbors shifted to Pune. They had a little cottage near Shivaji Nagar and we would go cycling in the morning to a hill with a garden. The favorite memory is of the white flowers which I would gather and the dragonflies. So many dragonflies. I must be 6 or 7 years
Then came age 10 and I went to a school which had a garden and a ground. It has bushes and shrubs and trees. I loved it all. the most favorite was the shoe flowers and I was fascinated with the sticky end of the stamen which I would try and stick to my palm.
The next age was 17 when my dream came true. We now had a row house with a garden in front and a kitchen garden behind. I would collect money and bring seeds and it was so fortunate that my mother was also very fond of plants and nature and we both got to digging the garden with some help and sowing plants and fruits and vegetables.
Lady Finger, Mint, Aarum, Papya, Bananas, Fenugreek, Balsams, Periwinkle, roses, marigold, Zinnea, The Arizona yellow bell tree grew so big that the little money plant climbed on it and became huge monsteria plant. The attempt at growing Pinapple invited a snake. The attempt to grow a Jamun tree, Syzgium cumini was not supported by neighbors and they said, the roots are too wide and they will uprood the house as it was not a big garden.
So many lovely memories. Shall be back with you to share more on my adventures with plants.
with magical love
Salma
